Dan "Mule"

7am-11am

Growing up from a small town outside of St. Louis, Missouri, Dan “The Mule” never imagined he would be trading hot humid summers for the frigid winters of Minnesota, but when the opportunity arose, he followed the bright glow of the “On-Air” light to Jackson. A graduate of the University of Central Missouri, the only school in the entire US with a Mule as a mascot, Dan figured to adopt the moniker of “The Mule” to pay homage to where he learned all about the broadcasting biz, and it matches his sometimes stubborn personality. An avid movie buff and a dedicated follower of St. Louis Blues hockey, Dan likes to bring his unique sense of humor to the airwaves and maybe throw in a movie suggestion or two. His radio career has taken him to almost half of the states in the US, broadcasting for sports teams like MIAA Division II University of Central Missouri football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and volleyball, going to the Xcel Energy Center for high school boys and girls playoff hockey for the Luverne Cardinals, now wears the hat for broadcasting for Jackson County Central and Martin County West. Along his career, Dan hopes to someday do play-by-play for a professional sports organization, and direct his own movie.

I grew up on a farm just outside of Sherburn, MN and attended Martin County West High School and graduated in 1993. I played volleyball, basketball and softball in high school and even ran track for a couple of years before deciding softball was better than running hurdles. I grew up with 3 brothers so it’s no wonder why I love sports so much. After graduating high school, I attended Willmar Community College where I played 3 sports while working towards my Associate of Arts Degree. I then transferred to St. Cloud State University to complete my Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis on radio broadcasting. My professional career has been all over the place as I go out of radio for about 20 years until I finally got the chance to get back into it full time with Community First Broadcasting. Once you catch the radio bug, it’s really hard to get rid of. I love all MN sports teams but especially the MN Lynx and the MN Frost as they are women’s teams that know how to win. The Vikings, well I love them, but they frustrate me every week ha ha. I am an Aunt to 6 and a great aunt to 8 and they are my pride and joy as I love being an auntie. I am excited to get to share the middays with you on Xtreme Country!!

2pm-6pm

I have been working in radio in some fashion since I was a junior in high school. I started off as a board operator for ball games and once I heard the broadcaster doing play by play of the game he was at, I was hooked. I knew that was the profession for me. After high school, I went to Iowa Lakes Community College and received my associate degree in broadcasting. When I graduated from ILCC, I enrolled at Buena Vista University and I obtained my bachelors degree in Mass Communication. I have been apart of the
KUOO/Q102/Y100 team since the fall of 2006. I am married to my wife Tina. We have two kids together and I have two step daughters from her previous marriage. I am a sports fanatic and my favorite teams are the Iowa Hawkeyes, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Braves and Chicago Bulls. I also love movies and going to auctions/garage sales.
